Station Life

Facilities and Apparatus

Consolidated Fire District No. 2 (CFD#2) operates three fire stations. From these three facilities we maintain a fully staffed fleet of three Engines, two Trucks, one Heavy Squad (mini-pumper), one Heavy Rescue/Trench Rescue, and one Battalion Chief truck. Station 22 and 23 also house a Johnson County Med-Act ALS Ambulance. All CFD2 facilities are located strategically to optimize emergency response times for not only our own area of responsibility, but for the optimization of our joint service areas through automatic and mutual aid with all surrounding jurisdictions. Station 22 and 23 are both located in the City of Prairie Village, while Station 21 resides in the City of Mission Kansas. Each facility of CFD2 houses fully staffed emergency service professionals that are prepared to meet any type of response needs.

 Stations

Each CFD2 station is designed to house a minimum of 7 to 9 emergency responders. Stations are constructed to facilitate a communal style living environment for on duty personnel.  They provide full living environment including kitchen, dining area, dayroom, quiet rooms, bunk facilities and fitness rooms with full free weight and cardiovascular equipment to provide for health maintenance on duty.
