CFD2 reviews plans for construction projects within the district involving new construction, tenant finishes and changes in occupancy. The Building Officials for the cities CFD2 serves also review plans for code compliance but it is often necessary for CFD2 personnel to see preliminary drawings to ensure that the appropriate fire protection equipment is planed and that equipment falls in line with the operational readiness of the Fire District. A close working relationship with the city Building officials is necessary to ensure that buildings are built in accordance with the locally adopted codes. Field verification inspections and acceptance testing are often conducted in the presence of both the Fire Marshal and Building Official.
