CFD2 provides technical rescue in the areas of trench and structural
collapse to its citizens and the citizens of Johnson County.
Trench Rescue CFD2
is well known within the metro area for our trench rescue expertise. We
carry a full complement of rescue shores and equipment that enables us
to perform rescues and recoveries at almost any type of trench collapse.
We have been called to respond many times since we started this type of
rescue in 1989.
Structural Collapse
CFD2 started in to Structural Collapse 10 years ago. Spurred on by the
Oklahoma City bombing, we saw a need to add to the county’s heavy rescue
capability. Our capabilities include breaching, breaking and cutting
concrete, building stabilization, metal cutting and collapse void
search. Our team was deployed to Pascagoula, Mississippi after hurricane
Katrina and Greensburg, Kansas after an F5 tornado destroyed the town.
Kansas Task Force 3
CFD2 is currently the co-sponsor for the N.E Kansas Urban Search and
Rescue team, Task Force 3. The team is comprised of components from
Fire
Departments in Olathe, Kansas City Kansas, Shawnee, Leawood Leavenworth
City, Leavenworth County and Johnson County Med-Act. This team will
respond statewide if called to do so.
